The age of Hollywood is at an end; the age of indie film has begun.

Iron Lung released today, which is made and self-funded by YouTuber Markiplier. If anyone wants to help support independent media, it's a big one to support right now by seeing it in theaters

I'll know in a few hours after our showing! But so far reviews have been good

I liked it but it could have been shorter, if you liked his playthrough of the game I think you'll like the movie. The nothing happening scenes were too long and did not create tension.

Too much slop nowadays. Streaming services brought forth the age of quantity over quality and it shows. The writing is bad, the acting is bad, and the CGI is poor and overused. All of this leads to my immersion being broken. I still have love for movies. Just not for what they're shoveling out these days.

The thing is, every now and then something interesting slips through the slop ... I really enjoyed Eenie Meanie for example, it was a bit weird, didn't really flow at all. But it was fun and different.

Yes, much like with music nowadays, you have to actively search for what is good. It's there, but there are so many other options they drown out the good stuff.

                      We need passion projects.

We need creatives that have a story they want to tell. Not a rehash or reimagining. Not a format change (animation to live action.)

We need stories that are engaging and not something creates to be half paid attention to with the plot retold multiple times on the dialogue.

We don't need the latest action comedy with as many witty one liners as possible. We don't need never ending sequels where the stakes keep growing and growing until they ultimate are saving the world, over and over again.

Maybe start investing in new ideas?

This is what happens when financial minds start controlling creative spaces.

It’s like someone turned off the creative tap in these bigger studios about 15 years ago and decided they don’t need any more new ideas, just regurgitated old ones. Same goes for the bigger game studios and all their “remasters”.

Barely anyone in charge really cares about the craft, only safe investment returns based on historical data.

All in the name of the almighty profit.

                        How could that ever backfire?

C'mon! A remake of Bruce all mighty can get us the revenue we need!
