‘Pluribus’ What Do You Think? What I would have Preferred,

I get more from this reply what mean. I do not see them not having the professional skills? What does the professional behaviors matter, they are not the skills to do the professional things, like they ober & over again flying jets & helicopters.

It sounds like you have a very large dearth of knowledge as to what constitutes ‘professional’ behavior
I agree with you, no single person can know the professional behaviors/skills needed for many professions let alone all professions.
Flying a large plane with one person that is designed to require at least three people to even function is a HUGE lapse of judgement.
I think these large planes can be flown by one-person, but I will let be right on that, I do not know as professional whether you are right. You know something you are not taking in consideration for this whole reply’s complaints, is there are what 1-billion people dead by 2nd-episode, & it is increasing in the future episodes as they find more dead. All but what 12-people are under control of all microscopic Beings. There are few planes flying; look at how empty the airports & skies are.
Then about the killing The Living Earth practices of transporting only one-person, & other such practices, I was right there with you, but then the obvious answers smacks you in the face. The negatives on our planet’s health & thus all Living Beings have nearly drop to nothing, with fewer population & few transportation.
Plus, the infected person overseeing to the main character’s pleasure, needs & safety, told another un-infected male character that they cannot feed him any Beings’ meat, because they cannot harm Living Beings, thus they only can make Vegan foods. I love that, as a Vegan. -

Let me tell you, there are MANY people amongst 5 billion people who know how to fly that plane… If there wasn’t a large pool of knowlege to pull from, why try it solo!?
I was talking about myself, not the series infected people-

With that being said, actually, we are well past 5-billion, right now, even with the 1-billion & increasing death toll, try 8-billion people during the 2nd episode.
If these “beings” (which were specifically NOT described in the opening dialog with the main character. At all.) were so interested in not harming anyone, flying a smaller plane was an OBVIOUS avenue to reduce the harm.
There is no harm to that when there are way, way & way less planes taking off, & that is just planes. Even hitting flying birds drastically drops, maybe to zero.
What do you think all people concerned about environmental damage done right now, IRW, wish would happen? Come man think, -

Not a single person, but what I think is 12-people.
I think it is wrong that suddenly I cannot reply to your last reply. You need to the last word. Proof is in you already said, what was in the your last reply, in your reply before, the last reply.
What you said it last reply, I do not disagree with it.

I done trying to get you to understand it, it is hopeless.
The Livable Earth & All Living Beings are the most thing in my life,
i did not create this thread to verbally fight with other members, so I am letting it go.

Im going to coach this in vague language to avoid spoilers.
The key I think you missed in that sequence is that no one person is important. That person is introduced doing "menial" tasks while filthy. They are pointing out that individual comfort is nigh pointless, as each of the hosts is just part of something larger. The human needs once youre joined are minimized on an individual level, or at least, met in a different way.
That host was selected for a reason, but even if they did die and crash one of tens of thousands of planes they dont really need, they could send another, very similiar host to complete that goal. The "whole" considered her flying alone to be safe enough, or at least irrevelvant enough if it caused an issue, and they were ultimately correct. She arrived unharmed, promptly. With how the "whole" views the "unjoined," using a large plane to assist her is likely seen as the best possible use of resources. Later episodes comfirm this viewpoint.
In the end, that single host flying a large plane alone just to arrive somewhere quickly seems insane to us, but fits the "wholes" personality to a tee.

It didnt actually require multiple people in the show, but that could just be creative license. Im not a pilot, but I bet that plane "should for safety and efficency be flown by multiple people," but I doubt it literally requires 3+ people to be operating it to fly. Its not like it needs 3+ people to push levers and turns the wheel at the same time to work, its just reckless to not have redundancies.
That recklessness is the point. Again, being hazy for spoiler reasons, but that host is both very important and not important at all. She is the literally best person on earth for the role she is about to play, but is also disposable. In the total billions of people on earth, thousands of others could do what she does if they need to, but at that moment, she is the "best," so she has the maximuim resources to succeed. That includes a moterbike, a plane, hair and makeup staff, resort showers, vehicles at the destination/etc. She is about to interact with what the "whole" think is someone very important.
As to the "why dont they murder the unjoined," i think we are stepping into spoilers here, but ill say vaguely that they are literally aliens. Humans might kill those unjoined and be done with it, but they arent us. That question is a core part of the show. The "who, the what, the why" of them, and what it means for the remaining humans, is the show. How do the humans and aliens react to each other is literally the point.
The showrunners have really straddled the surreal nature of the aliens and their interaction with the remains of our civilization. Its very, very strange how they act, but makes a lot of sense when the show explains what they value. I think showing that "weirdness" is done very well, as it lends one to wonder what is truly valuable in an "alien" mind, and in, contrast, why we value what we do. Thats an interesting topic they do credit to.

If the entity truly connected all human minds, it would be of no significant consequence to murder the handful of people that didn't 'connect'. Period. Ever. Humanity has proven that a handful of deaths is nothing in the face of progress.
Why should that change now that everyone is connected?
Because they value life and are extremely empathetic beings. If your priority is preserving life in all its form, if you are driven to sharing what you experience with the rest of existence, then murder is no solution. Do they want progress? Sure: they are still highly curious beings after the joining, but not at the expense of another life, regardless of how easy or convenient it might appear to be from a "rational" standpoint.
And as for the plane, could it not be seen as arrogance symptomatic of the joining? I mean sure, those things you mentioned could happen – heart attack, complications – but the collective is so confident in its knowledge and ability that it doesn't think the likelihood of complications ensuing is high enough to crew the plane with more than one person.
-
Well, clearly the writers dont know much about flying a cargo plane, or just used her flying it filthy, alone and serene as a way to make a bigger point about how the aliens value their lives, and in contrast, human lives. I expect it was more the latter than the former, but either may be true.
I can tell you as a person who does not fly cargo planes, that their point about "alienness" came across very well in that shot. Its unfortunate that it did not for you, but I expect it did translate for those outsite of your profession.

So it's difficult to discuss this show as you've only seen the first two episodes and I've watched all nine episodes twice.
However even from the first two episodes, I'm not sure you and I watched the same show.
I think it's fine to wish for a show to be something, but you can't fault a show for not being something it never tried to be. You can't watch Shakespeare and complain that it lacked a big car chase scene.
I think you've picked up on some of the themes of Pluribus, but you haven't caught them all, and you may be wrong about others.

Hey, now that you mention it, that's a huge problem. Who funded these scripts?
