I would argue it's not reductive to treat the current approach used to manage immigration in the US as almost comically stupid (not to mention being founded on mostly posturing and self-aggrandization "I support the law").

Managing immigration is one thing, but allowing your country to become like russia with security forces beating and killing people under the alleged pretense of managing immigration is definitely a sign of maliciousness.

somehow I participated in the highjacking (SP?) of this thread into politics, I am done.
Go find my other thread, we are discussing that thread’s topic here!

Children of Men had much stronger dystopian sci-fi motifs. It reminded me of Brazil for some reason. One Battle, After Another was more of a mass market feature. That being said, I watched it in the cinema and I enjoyed it. It was a good movie.

I do think Children of Men (not to mention Brazil which is arguably a classic of cinematography by this point) is better.

The miracle cease fire scene really caught my attention when I first saw the movie in the late 2000s.

Original movie just not registering with me, seen too many similar ones with Vampires.

Music & score is a awesome point.

        Remind me,
What was the scene after the credit? Was that with BB King?

I was so ready to be blown away by the movie, like the director, but do not like all his movies, was on ‘Democracy Now’ before ‘Sinners’ came out…
…But while watching it, towards the middle I was like it is good, but no where near as good as the build-up was about & I was expecting!
I have heard that it is creatively different than others, but wait a heck of a second there, have they watch a lot of vampire movies, in that time?
I heard it is Bluezy (SP?), well these last 10-years I have added Blues to my music group. So that was okay, but not making it a nominated movie.
The acting, by Michael B. Jordan being awesome. Okay, I will admit that I am not the best judge of acting, unlike the whole of movies that I am real good at & give a lot of benefit of the doubt. So okay maybe give actor, of two-main characters in the movie, Michael B. Jordan a nomination & maybe, win the nomination.

As a very serious veteran & long term activist & political person, through Independent & Left-Far Left media-
Have these nominators really watched ‘One Battle, After Another’? Talk about creative, different than tons that has come before & will come after, on par with when I watched ‘Matrix’ & talked about on the way home. As I said, after watching ‘One Battle, After Another’, it was one of the best movies I have ever watched! Yes, actor Leonardo DiCaprio did an awesome job, with a role he next to never plays, but so did Sean Penn & every single actor/actress in the main roles. Yes, I admit I am a bad judge of acting, but their performances were so awesome, believable that they broke through my inability judge acting.
          Movie’s script was believable!

I will have to. rewatch the movie to get that scene again, I was playing to any ways. To try figure-out what I am missing, not just me, but my older, female roommate also was let down & surprised by RECORD nominations.

I didn't like it at all. And nobody I know has liked it.

I was mindblown when I heard it was on the Oscars. It's just a random film, worse than average I'd say.

I would suggest a rewatch yeah and watch it not in comparison to any other movie but just for what it is and the experience it is on its own. I think it is also being propped up a bit because it's such a good movie that's original and not part of some franchise or remake which is much needed this day and age.

Now, first person to bring that part of originality to the movie, thanks.

Okay, now, that I just finished rewatched ‘Sinners’ & loved it! Yes more, than the 1st-time, but as I said before the 1st-time I a lot more expectations, that were not met, while this 2nd-time I had no expectations, but actually expecting to be let down like before.

I was not let down & entertained- the script, music were awesome, but my favorite part was the choreography in the scenes of Black music through all the histories was greatest music thing I have ever seen in movies!

Really the only thing it was missing, 2nd-time watched, was Caucasian & Minority (Black, Asian & Mixed/Black & Caucasian) people coming together, for a more positive future & if that was not bad enough the only time was talked about in the movie, was the head of the Vampires, as a trick, to get main characters to turn into Vampires- basically, we are all one as Vampires & that will never happen as the living.
I mean in 10/1992 could have shown Caucasian & Minority (Black, Asian & Mixed/Black & Caucasian) people coming together or even show it in 1932, not like it did not exist, even then. If you do not believe me, then learn about one of favorite documentaries (used to play a lot on ‘Free Speech’, plus ‘Democracy Now’ has done at least 1-segment on it) about Wilmington, N.C. around the same time.

There was another thing at the early part of the movie, that just logically did work, cannot remember now, probably because it is so tiny of a nit pick. I told my roommate (could not believe the last two shown Vampires would not have burn, with the sunrise, I could them getting away in time) that I did find something that makes no sense, but there just nit picking.

I been talking about peaceful activism is only way, but admittedly I was rooting for a lot of bad people-creatures to be killed. Of course, in real life I am Peaceful Activist.

I still think this is the 2nd best movie, to ‘One Battle, After Another Battle’- rarely do movies have activists as center point.

Thus I to have to delete this thread, & I will be creating another thread- ‘I Just Rewatched ‘Sinners’ & I Changed My Tune, Awesome Movie, But Still 2nd Best & Record 16-Nominates is Too Much.’, admitting it, with just this reply, obvious with the sentence different.
