    Yeahh.. for the past few months i had been consistently studying for 7-8hrs a day consistently for my competitive exam (avg asian teen energy) and today i had my first attempt, and i kinda fucked it up very bad.. its a physics chemistry and math exam and i kinda went blank and the first few questions were very tough and my morale just went downhill after that, i couldnt even do the easy questions

    So yeah thankfully i still have a second attempt in April and i might be able to do better.. considering i just need to keep revising now i completed all the syllabus

    Anyway I am not feeling sad.. just kinda lonely and disheartened.. i know this is all a very normal part of these things and it takes a long time to get good at these things (this was my third attempt in total coz i gave two last year💀) but anyways.. if i get it done the next time its good or i will just move on with my life and get whatever college i get.. i just sometimes wish i had a teacher or something to guide me or atleast just idk listen? I was always the “minds his own business and gets good marks” kid in school so teachers liked me but i never had a bond.. and now i am studying online so its just a bit lonely smtms (i havent been to school coz i graduated last year and wanted to focus on the exam) so yeah just that🙂 all of my frnds have gone to other clges so i dont talk to them much.. so yeah what u guys think?

    Edit: also btw its 3 am here lol i just watched a really nice heartwarming romcom movie… i guess i will take a break about of a week tho and enjoy and idk do sm cooking or creative work

      I've been there. Kinda (not Asian). Sometimes you just have to take tests multiple times to see what they really focus on and learn to think like the test. I had some tests where I just paid for a pretest and took that over and over until I felt confident. I knew the material but I didn't know how I'd be tested on it.

      Anyway, good luck next time!

        Yeah, second time through helps a lot. Some useful advice I got was: read the whole exam through once, start with the questions you know you'll ace. Triage the tougher questions to maximize the part-marks. If you make a mistake, don't erase, just cross it out; you might need it later and it might not be wrong. When you're finished, sit with exam until the time is up; it's best not to leave early, in case you're struck by inspiration.

        Good luck next time!

          That must have been soul-crushing.. On the other hand, you get a second chance where you will do much better! Do not fret about the past mistakes, only think of how you will do well in the future.

          In some countries (like mine), we don't have second chance like that.. You are in much better position than us!

            I don’t know if this will help but I had to take a tough exam in my field. Pass rate for first time is about 50%. I was completely fluent, however, as you described…that happened to me. I went blank and lost morale. What carried me was actually not the content knowledge, but breaking down every part of the question in my head. I thought I was good at that until I started practicing through mocks. Anyway, I watched a lot of drill videos that helped improve and went into the exam, had a moment of anxiety, and slipped into that mindset of just doing drills. And it was a constant struggle to maintain. But I do recommend it as a strategy.

              considering date and time, and asian, i presume jee? as someone who has given the exam, however the exam goes, you feel bad. i did too, in all my attempts (at my time, we had 4 due to covid, i gave 3, and luckily cleared). do not worry. with jee, the only thing that really matters is that you need to be mentally prepared about exam more than questions. just do not take stress. I do not want to give any study advices, especially at this time, so adding it in spoilers. if you fel like it, read it, else ignore.

              ::: spoiler Spoiler

              try to give mock exams every other day (alternating). like give exam one day, relax or mild study in th remaining day. next day, analyse the exam, find mistakes, correct them. try to keep the days of exams lighter and ensure 8-10 hrs of sleep. exaam like jee requires developing muscles, habbit of sitting of 3 hrs, with focus and not taking stress, and the thing that worked for me the most was just keep giving exam until i got over my anxiety issues. by the end, exam was yet another day. sorry if it felt like i am flexing, i did not mean it that way. just keep good mental health.

              :::

              most importantly - it is just an exam. even after a good college, i am still unemployed, so do not lose hope or get disheartened by anything. in any case, know that you worked hard, you will do well in life.

              On a side note, if you ever feel like it, you can dm me, a fellow loner. I did not ever expect to find a indian of similar age on threadiverse, but here we are i guess.

                    Damn :(, that sucks.. here u actually get 6 total attempts but u can only give two in one year.. however btw for the doctors exam here u can actually give unlimited attempts so you often people aged 24-25 amd even more still trying to clear an exam they started giving at 18, kinda fucked up imo

                        understandable. I kinda feared there were privacy reasons as well, and i have possibly de-annonymised you a bit, but still messaged anyway.
