I don't have a valentine so I'm probably going to be spending it cozied up in my bedroom with snacks, my Kobo, and my tv! How about you guys?

We've been together for 20+ years and have never celebrated a Valentine. My spouse and I are more like: why should we dedicate a single day of the year to what is supposed to be a lifetime together or, if not a lifetime, at least a good chunk of it spend together? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I'm working, thank god, cause I don't really feel like sitting home alone and lonely and I don't have anyone to be with. Which is funny, because when I was in a relationship I didn't care about Valentine's Day at all, but now it just makes me sad.

For those of you who are celebrating, make sure you are safe, or else you might be meeting me, your friendly EMS worker ๐Ÿ™‚

That's true! I guess you don't really need to wait for a holiday to express your love and commitment to each other. I think maybe I'm just lonely lol, so it's comforting to think about.

Every holiday is a normal day, if you think about it. We give meaning to it ourselves! It can be special if you'd like it to be special ๐Ÿ™‚

Will you be taking any sweet treats in to work? You can spread the love to your coworkers instead!

That's right. We don't celebrate birthdays, Xmas and stuff like that... because we don't wait for a specific date. But we also don't worry much with gifts and presents, we just care about one another ๐Ÿ˜‰

                Iโ€™m just lonely lol,

I think you're spending your time in a good manner: reading is never a bad idea. Maybe treat yourself with a new book? I mean, one you may not usually think like reading. It's could be like meeting some random person somewhere: it's impossible to know in advance how far this encounter will lead you ๐Ÿ™‚

What I mean is I didn't grow up in a culture where it was a thing.

Sounds like there might be a story there? I can understand not thinking it's special, but to hate something with a passion seems...like there's a reason for it lol

I have dedicated myself to her daily for 33 years. She and I have been to hell and back and neither of us needs a dipshit Hallmark card to prove it to each other.

I mean Valentine's day doesn't have to be related to Hallmark or cards or gestures that feel inauthentic. Nor do I think it's about "proving" anything. It's just about celebrating love in whatever way you'd like to.

It must be lovely to have that kind of bond! ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope that eventually I'll find someone to dedicate myself to as well.

Iโ€™ll participate in the theme day at work, bring cookies to the school party. Saturday is my cozy time. Donโ€™t wanna think about other people after 5pm.

Not buying anything but I shall offer my SO a massage. She likes that and knows that I don't give much for special days.
