Short answer no.
Long answer: noooooooo!Useful answer: Meh. First of all there are some cool storylines and cool characters. There are also utter shit in both regards. My worst gripe is Michael "The Wailer" Burnham. She is by far, like warp 9 far, the most over-emotional character in all of Star trek history. Never mind the fact that she is a star fleet officer who should be somewhat professional, she was also raised by Spock's parents, which is utterly invented out of whole crap for discovery, on Vulcan. If she behaved the way she does on ST:D one tenth of the time she was on Vulcan, they would have put her in an asylum or shipped her back to earth. It is intolerable to watch a star fleet officer bawling in every other episode.
The spore drive. Again, no real connection to the tech of any previous trektech, and never heard of again later. I like the concept actually, but I feel it belongs in another universe, not trek.
The twists. Subverting expectations seems to have been the foundation of the series. While a few surprises are great, discovery seems to hammer the expired equine with twists until it more resembles a gory corkscrew than a horse.
I could go on. I won't.

Disco is a fun ride, just don't think about it too much.

Chalking up Discovery’s unpopularity as “bigotry” is lazy.
- The writing is really really poor. Like Picard season 2 level poor.
- Someone cries tears about something almost every episode.
- You won’t remember half the names of the bridge crew because they are barely used each season.
- The ship travels the universe through the magic of mushrooms.
- Eating sentient species is used as (unfunny) humor.
- Everyone cusses because the producers think 20th century vernacular is still used centuries later.
- Two words: programmable matter.
- And spoiler: Millions of people die and dilithium stops working because a single alien has… a crying jag. (See point 1 & 2).
Just absolutely horrible writing and plot points. Perfectly good actors and characters wasted every season.
That said, Doug Jones steals the show and creates a fascinating character.
Awww. You don't like something but you stick around and watch it anyway. But you bitch bitch bitch about it. I don't like a show I don't watch it. Like that shit show game of thrones and many others. I tuned out on that show in the second episode and never looked back
There is so much wrong with your bullet points than I'm willing to go through considering you wont want to change your mind. So I wont try.
Its funny that you used the 20th century for vernacular when we are in the 21st century and its still all quite common. I guess you wold prefer made up profanity like frak on battle star.
You don't want entertainment. You want boring reality and I'm thinking you are unhappy with that as well. They made the characters more human and you don't like it. Kinda sad really and I'm not talking about the show.

SNW is a spinoff of Discovery. As someone who enjoyed both Picard and SNW, I think you will enjoy it. At the very least it will broaden the Star Trek universe for you. I suggest watching TOS unaired pilot (The Cage) or the two part episode "The Menagerie" before Discovery season 2 to (re)introduce Pike (and possibly Spock) to you and explain their back stories.
