Nintendo is consistently terrible about not having solid launch titles.

Which is weird to be sure with all their exclusive studios.

Truly, the PS5 of the new generation.

Except the people who wanted to buy it on release didn't have to wait for 3 years if unlucky.

It offers the ability to play a lot of your Switch 1 games with much better performance. I’ve been really enjoying TOTK at 4k60. I think that was a draw for a lot of more hardcore Nintendo fans at the systems launch.

Also Donkey Kong is the spiritual successor to Mario Odyssey. If you liked that game you should definitely be into the new DK. I think Nintendo did a terrible job of messaging on that point, though.

That said, lack of content was the main point of the comment I was replying to. However, I think the huge price increase over Switch is equally as important at this time when people have less and less purchasing power.

Also it is available. It's not like PS5 that you had to get when it appeared for sale or wait years, if you change your mind now you can just place an order, or if you bother to go outside you can just walk into any shop that sells consoles and have one this afternoon.

Availability allows people to ponder in peace, the pressure of missing out sell a lot of things.

Get a steamdeck, emulate the switch 1.

Is it that easy, and gives decent framerate?

Yes, it is incredibly easy using the module in EmuDeck, and the framerate is very solid (and can be modded and enhanced with things such as internal resolution upscaling)

What's the point of paying for overpriced game cartridges when the software isn't onboard and are just a license to download them? The Switch 1 was still tolerable because you got to own the titles you physically purchased and could access locally at any time. There's no long term argument for owning a Switch 2.

That's just in the case of the game key cards, right?

Yup, Steam Deck + EmuDeck and using the "Eden" switch emulator. I have the same or better performance than when I did with Yuzu.

Yes, some games actually have the data to install the game.

Unpopular opinion, I love my Switch 2! I also have a Steam Deck, but I think the Switch 2 is a worthy upgrade to get upgraded visuals on first party games. Also, the HDR is very impressive given that the display is LCD; I genuinely think it looks good seeing as it's brighter and higher DPI than the Steam Deck OLED.

That's also the thing. It came out in June. Prices will not go down. Everyone who wanted one already got one.
