PieFed Users Surge!
-
Where's the increase coming from? Users changing from Lemmy or new users to the theadiverse? (I fucking hate that word)
Nobody loves it, but fewer people including several major contributors seem to hate it than any alternative.

It might be nice if The Verse won. It won't, and it shouldn't, but it's a nice thought regardless:-).

I understand that but when I see a graph that does not start at zero I can take it into account. I get you though about best practice. Usually this type of thing I think is from software defaulting to it to avoid white space. At the extreme if you have something that is at a million and goes up to 1.1 million that can be a huge jump for a particular time span but if you started at zero it would just look like a straight line.
Yea I totally get why both exist.
Over long timespans starting at zero will just give you a lot of whitespace -

i heard its being promoted on reddit, could be from there.

Not the biggest fan either, but nobody has better alternative. Compared to Forumverse, Threadiverse is a bit better.
Also a few threads on !fedibridge@lemmy.dbzer0.com and !fedigrow@lemmy.zip
The social web is the grown up sounding alternative I guess.
-
People will think the social Web is existing social networks
-
Yes I'd be happy to find a better word for it. Although, with low social stability eventually there will be 0% uptime so they are related.
support? backing? idk
-
That also encompasses microblogs like mastodon, and bluesky.
-
Community-verse? Groupiverse? Topicverse? Lol
I don't see why it has to end in verse. Like, boardnet sounds good (in my opinion), board network, because Lemmy/piefed is a network of boards.

I kinda like that actually

TIL I read graphs badly.
That's not what i meant to say, taking a closer look and trying to undestand it all is obbiously good.
But graphs have a big glance value and should be able to convey key information at a glance. -

Maybe this is showing my age and the association will not materialize in the minds of younger people, but boardnet makes me think of a bunch of old-school phpBB message board forums.

Let’s see if piefed is as open as it claims to be. The creator and maintainer actually injects their own opinion into the source code. There are so many deny lists and a social score built into the system.
Piefed is great at putting in new features and making everything pretty. But it’s so opinionated, you’re better off on Reddit, imo.

Almost all of these are able to be turned off.
By "social credit" you just mean a toned down version of Reddits karma (that doesn't track positive score)?
-
But lightning is faster than rockets... What? This doesn't make any sense at all!

Personally I'm fine with a comment getting removed if all they replied with is "this." Sure that's opinionated, but it's a good opinion.
-
eyyy, i'm one of those. long time mastodon user, but was always intimidated by lemmy, piefed seems a lot more friendly.
friendly like community or software experience?

It can be turned off anyway, most of the others do turn it off.

Wtf is piefed
lemmy with extra censorship tools

thats fair enough. I get the importance. Like this was to me easy enough to read but I know under different circumstances it can create a kind of mental gymnastics where its like, man, this should not take this much to figure out. Its not exactly the same scenario but I had a park near me put up a vertical map on the mouth of an east/west trail on the south side. The map follows the standard thing where up is north. I hit them up requesting the move the map structure to the other side of the trail because its exhausting turning everything around in your head where if it faced north everything would line up more naturally mentally.
