You and Trump agree on that one

I strongly disagree. Taking his businesses and tax dollars away from the US is the most impactful individual action he could take

He can speak out against Trump much more freely from NZ. If he stays, he's more likely to face retaliation for speaking out

What is he going to do to fix the regime that he can't do from NZ?

Also keep in mind he's Canadian. That makes him more vulnerable to reprisal for speaking out, but it's also not his country to fix

Not really, they fired thousands of people right away to offset the cost of paying old Jim here. So he fundamentally disrupted all those lives, and the lives of the worker's dependent families, and now he's bouncing with the spoils.

      Can you substantiate your claim?

Meta has tons of cash, so it seems unlikely they would need to lay off thousands to pay for him

If he stays in the US, he would continue paying takes to the US government. By leaving he is taking away tax dollars

What benefit is there in him staying? What could he only do from within the US?

Could'a helped with his hundreds of millions of dollars instead of making Unreal Engine's Smurfs and the Chamber Of White Saviours for the past twenty fucking years.

Old US celebrities especially need US entertainment media attention in order to stay relevant. He's hurting himself. Nobody will miss him or his opinions, or his relatively small bank account compared to the US treasury.

Would you prefer he stay in the US and continue funding this regime?

Trump cares about money and power. Taking away some money is about the strongest message a non-politician can send. It also doesn't stop him speaking out, or funding opposition. He can still do everything else

The only real result is that the US is losing his tax dollars and businesses. That's what you're complaining about.

America will outlast Trump. The Dems need another candidate with the campaign skills of Bill Clinton or Barack Obama to make him and his followers totally forgettable. Republicans will triumph as long as the Dems keep pushing presidential candidates with weak campaign skills on us.

We need someone stronger than them since they still compromised with conservatives. We need someone who will control the party with an iron fist and yank everything left instead of just wanting to return to the status quo. Someone willing to tell every Republican and their supporters to go fuck themselves.

Exactly, in the article he sees the problem but instead of using his money to help he fucks off to be safe. He may not be an asshole but he's a a bit cowardish for it I feel even if he can still help from NZ it's more likely he will just focus on his life there than try to put out the gordian garbage fire that is the US

Cameron will be forgotten once he leaves the Hollywood media bubble. He's never been politically influential, and his short intervals of fame relied solely on 2 movies. But his fame from Titanic and Avatar has mostly died out.

I don't really see the difference in general doctrine between Trump and the others.

Trump is just more in your face, but for the rest he is just another US president.

Gimme one that would rediscuss the role of Israel (or even its existence) and who will actually support Ukraine and then maybe we can talk.

I mean, remaining on a sinking ship doesn't save anyone else from drowning. Some people have a life raft, I can't blame them for using it. I would get out if I could, cause things don't seem to be getting better anytime soon except on the off chance the midterms actually save us.

Ideally, the folks getting away on the life rafts wouldn't be determined by how much money they have. Maybe send the most vulnerable first, and the people with the means to resist stay behind. But that's not how this situation works, unfortunately.

It's a crabs-in-a-bucket situation. Why pull down the ones who can escape?

What benefit is there in him staying?

He would continue receiving millions in free Hollywood media attention to keep him relevant. He'll soon be forgotten in NZ, just like George Clooney and Rosie O'Donnell.

There are relatively easy paths out. If you're young enough, Canada offers a working holiday visa program

I was able to save enough and do it while working as a line cook. The most expensive part is physically moving

We should be celebrating other people leaving. It hurts the regime.

Lots of people left russia before and after the war started, it doesn't hurt enough. Government was actually ok with that.
