It offers the ability to play a lot of your Switch 1 games with much better performance. I’ve been really enjoying TOTK at 4k60. I think that was a draw for a lot of more hardcore Nintendo fans at the systems launch.

Also Donkey Kong is the spiritual successor to Mario Odyssey. If you liked that game you should definitely be into the new DK. I think Nintendo did a terrible job of messaging on that point, though.

That said, lack of content was the main point of the comment I was replying to. However, I think the huge price increase over Switch is equally as important at this time when people have less and less purchasing power.

I think both are huge factors. If I had the money, I probably wouldn't pick it up, but if I had the money to blow and there were a bunch of games yeah I might. I picked up the switch 1 and botw after a Saturday of overtime, and it was a great decision since a year later there was a pandemic, but the splurge money ain't coming and there's no games I'd drop several hundred dollars to play

It honestly has a decent lineup. Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Metroid Prime 4 are all solid. I've really been enjoying Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment, the co-op has MUCH better performance than the first game. Plus many other Switch games just have better performance on Switch 2, like PokΓ©mon Scarlet/Violet.

Keep in mind, the Switch 2 had arguably the strongest launch sales of any console. Looks like their numbers were front loaded, and everyone already got one before the holidays

Tbh a self hosted git or gitlab vs github only really matters for takedowns lol. I wonder how far we could go if the scene just paid a random dude in China or Brazil to just run repositories for warez and reverse engineering efforts that are untouchable by the ninjas.

Pay for hosting with XMR and stop fucking re-using usernames.

Releasing software anonymously/pseudonymously isn't that difficult..

They should have more game sales if they don't want me to use an emulator.

This is nintendo we are talking about here, they have enough enemies that most of their consoles get blown open within the first year.

What's the point of paying for overpriced game cartridges when the software isn't onboard and are just a license to download them? The Switch 1 was still tolerable because you got to own the titles you physically purchased and could access locally at any time. There's no long term argument for owning a Switch 2.

I'm not sure I'd call MKW 'solid' - it's a got a solid sound track.

The tracks are solid, but you're effectively not allowed to play them online, you get 2 laps of straight line followed by one single lap of a real track.

Their roll-out schedule for games is definitely unexpected, not making the new Pokemon a switch 2 exclusive was specifically a real weird move for Nintendo. Even if it wasn't a mainline game, that's usually their 'sell that new console' line.

Definitely grateful, but I really wonder why Nintendo isn't pushing Switch 2 games more.

Nintendo is consistently terrible about not having solid launch titles.

Also it is available. It's not like PS5 that you had to get when it appeared for sale or wait years, if you change your mind now you can just place an order, or if you bother to go outside you can just walk into any shop that sells consoles and have one this afternoon.

Availability allows people to ponder in peace, the pressure of missing out sell a lot of things.

Yes, it is incredibly easy using the module in EmuDeck, and the framerate is very solid (and can be modded and enhanced with things such as internal resolution upscaling)

Unpopular opinion, I love my Switch 2! I also have a Steam Deck, but I think the Switch 2 is a worthy upgrade to get upgraded visuals on first party games. Also, the HDR is very impressive given that the display is LCD; I genuinely think it looks good seeing as it's brighter and higher DPI than the Steam Deck OLED.
